03: Seeing God around you

More often than not, this journey can make you feel alone. Not many people talk about their unique journey to motherhood and you are often left wondering if you are the only one dealing with it all alone.

At the beginning of the year I felt so alone and so hopeless. No one knew about our struggle and unique journey to Motherhood. Questions kept coming about when we were having a child. Slowly we decided it was time to let a few close friends and family know. We didn’t tell many people in the beginning but one by one as we told them I felt a weight lift. All of a sudden we had this team of supporters behind us and realized God had answered a prayer I had prayed so many months before. I longed for someone to confide in. Someone that would help me pray or worship even when I couldn’t muster the words or strength anymore. Looking around me I saw God had done just that. We had a team all around us!

God could only answer this prayer when we spoke up and accepted our situation. He has blown us away with the amazing people who have offered support or met up for a coffee in some of our lowest times. They have sent scripture or a verse just when we needed it. God is so good. He knows what you need and when you need it. He has your team ready and waiting.

My advice to you is look around, amongst all the busyness of life and all the darkness, and find the little flickering of light all around you in people you never thought were there. They are there ready to be leaned on. It is so difficult when you are in the midst of this struggle to see anything good or hopeful but once you start searching you will see it is all around you. Pray for a team of women who understand what you are going through. Tell your “team” what is happening in your journey and keep that information for that team. Don’t tell every single person you meet (unless you feel lead to tell them) because you are not defined by this journey. There is more to you than this challenge. No matter what, do not be ashamed of your struggle. You never know who could be looking at you as their hope the moment you open up about your struggle. Always remember you are not alone and you are so loved.
